About New Song

New Song Center is the premiere resource in the Phoenix Metropolitan area for ongoing grief support for children and youth, ages 4 to 17, and their caregivers, who have experienced the death of someone they love. New Song Center also offers grief support programs specializing in the needs of grieving young adults ages 18 to 26 and ages 3 to 5. Children attend our program with their parents or custodial caregiver. The adult groups run concurrently with the children's groups.

Because a child's response to death is different from an adult's, New Song Center focuses on the unique needs of children, youth, young adults and families in grief. While we are assisting the children, who we consider our primary client, we also provide grief support for their adult caregiver.

Children are grouped by age to work through their grief using art, play, music, puppetry, journaling and discussion, while adults in concurrent groups learn how to support and parent their grieving children, as well as help themselves. By talking together and sharing concerns and fears, the adults begin to deal with their own issues of grief and loss. Whenever possible, families are placed into groups with others who have had similar experiences. Groups meet twice a month and are facilitated by trained and dedicated volunteers under staff supervision.

New Song Center is supported through the dedication of over 100 volunteers, the charitable donations of individuals, companies, foundations and special events.
